| This Upper East Side eatery’s Greek cuisine focuses on simple preparation and fresh, flavorful ingredients. Trata is a loud and cheerful place where knowledgeable servers escort you to the iced display of fresh seafood. They explain characteristics of each specimen, show you the prices by the pound and invite you to name your choice. Most preparations are a simple grill basted in lemon juice and olive oil. First courses include the expected Greek salads and dips, made better elsewhere, and some dandy fried red mullet, grilled octopus and sardines. Other standouts include shrimp, scallop and swordfish skewers with spiced tomato and mango tahini sauce; and pickled braised pork belly with Black Mission figs, toasted coriander seeds and mustard greens. |
