| This noted Midtown restaurant serves up passable Italian (and Italian-American) fare. The décor is patterned after a Tuscan countryside studio, and the funky dining room---with its wooden floor and colorful wall art---certainly seems much warmer than most big-city restaurants. The antipasto bar, which, with more than 40 offerings, is one of the grandest in New York, can sustain nibblers for long hours. True to European fashion, you can select two or three offerings at a time and share them between friends before returning for more. A special selection of pasta and meat entrées is available, including whole-grain kamut spaghetti puttanesca with tomatoes, capers and olives, strozzapreti with a basil-pesto sauce, and Maine lobster carbonara with house-made ribbon pasta, asparagus and pancetta. The pizzas are lovely, too, and several wines are available by the quarter-liter. |
