| The same team that helms downtown comfort-food restaurant Silvertone is behind the magic at Trina’s. Trina Sturm herself is a bubbly bartender that slings drinks here at her namesake. Trina's doesn't try too hard with fancy platings and flashy ambience, but it doesn't need to. If you're here, you know the prices are dirt cheap and the food is darn good. Drinks are strong and priced to sell (usually less than $10, plus beers for much less than that). And there's something for everyone on the menu: a moist, mealy corn dog that would put any carnival to shame; creamy mac ‘n’ cheese big enough to swim in; and a heaping portion of chicken and waffles, served with a side of zippy syrup. Then there's the Dog of the Day, an ever-changing hot dog lineup; selections have included a "Reuben" dog (lots of sauerkraut and special sauce) and a burrito dog (use your imagination). The dimly lit room and shabby sign out front only add to the "we know we're cool, come on by if you want" 'tude. |
