THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Troya Restaurant Review:

Turkish and Mediterranean dishes ranging from mezes (small plates) to wraps and larger entrées are featured at this upscale Richmond District café. Don’t miss the lahmacun, thin-crust pizza topped with minced lamb, green onions, tomatoes and spices. Hummus and baba ghanouj are classics. Turkish lentil soup --- puréed red lentils with red pepper and tomato paste cooked with mint, black pepper, cumin and garlic --- is belly-warming and properly spiced. The moist mashed garbanzo beans of the falafel are topped with tangy tahini sauce and wrapped in lavosh. For larger appetites, move on to the aromatic rack of lamb --- marinated, grilled chops served with rice --- or try the mixed grill, a selection of flame-broiled kebabs that includes ground beef, chicken and minced lamb. Troya follows the Turkish tradition of marinating all grilled and flame-broiled meat dishes for a minimum of ten hours, rendering them juicy and full of flavor. For dessert, consider the oven-baked rice pudding or flaky baklava. The wine list is brief but includes selections from France, Italy, Spain and the Napa Valley. Service is as warm and relaxed as the surroundings. Also located in Pacific Heights at 2125 Fillmore St., 415-563-1000.
