With a mastery of simple, take-out-style Middle Eastern-Mediterranean food, it is no wonder that Truly Mediterranean has finally expanded to North Beach with its third location. THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Truly Mediterranean Restaurant Review:

With a mastery of simple, take-out-style Middle Eastern-Mediterranean food, it is no wonder that Truly Mediterranean has finally expanded to North Beach with its third location. Yet again, this family business has managed to turn no-nonsense décor and limited seating into a magnet for hungry people looking for spectacular food at excellent prices. Not to be missed is the shwarma. The meat (usually lamb and chicken on Tuesdays and Fridays) slow cooks on a vertical rotisserie until meltingly tender, all the while dripping juices onto thick wedges of tomato and thinly sliced onions. All this, plus tahine, parsley and hot sauce is wrapped up in a big square of lavash bread and grilled for just a few minutes. Vegetarians might enjoy the falafel, freshly shaped balls of puréed garbanzo beans, parsley, and spices fried to order and wrapped up with the proper garnishes in the same lavash bread. A falafel deluxe includes succulent strips of eggplant and fried potatoes. Platters of baba ghanouj and hummus make for excellent side dishes. The fresh carrot juice is excellent, as is the minty yogurt drink.
