Owner Gabe Feldman, M.D., insists that this barbecue is not only kosher---it’s beef-based---but also better for you than regular barbecue because he refuses to grill over wood. A former national director of the American Cancer Society, he’s certain charring meat is carcinogenic. Of course, real barbecue isn’t charred anyway; instead, it’s slow cooked over a low heat. But that said, this beef ’cue is quite tasty. This actually is a rabbinically supervised restaurant, with no cream, butter or lard or hydrogenated oils used in the food. For those with religious restrictions in their diet, it meets the test; and for the rest of us, it means no trans fats--a healthier way to have your ’cue.
