Twin Palms, of course, made quite a splash since it was the creation of chef Michael Roberts and actor Kevin Costner. Both have long since departed, and management changes have transformed the original country French roast and stew menus into a more homogenized Southern California-French amalgam. We still enjoy Twin Palms for its live music at night, al fresco lunchtime atmosphere and the great weekend breakfast brunch dishes that are family-friendly in the sunshine. Start with the Maryland crab cake, Korean-style short ribs or ahi sashimi with sriracha pepper sauce. Entrées include a pan-seared sterling salmon and herb-crusted filet mignon. A good bet for dessert is the sampler plate---chocolate cake, white berry box cake and fruit tart. Eighty percent of the restaurant is outdoors, so even under canvas and with heaters, dress accordingly on those cool, fog-shrouded L.A. nights. |
