Tydes Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review

: There is no sign indicating a restaurant at Butterfly Beach in Montecito. The hoi polloi prowl the sand, but patronage at Tydes is limited to members of the private Coral Casino Beach & Cabana Club and guests staying at the Four Seasons Resort, The Biltmore Santa Barbara across the street. Those privy to the golden key enjoy one of Santa Barbara’s most unique dining experiences: a rare oceanfront location and Scandinavian modern styling in a city known for a surfeit of Spanish Colonial architecture. The limited menu reflects local, seasonal ingredients. Halibut caught at the offshore islands is prepared with lemon garlic aïoli and salt-roasted root vegetables. You’ll also find fresh pastas and dishes like flatbreads, local fish crudo and house-made salami. Desserts may include oven-roasted peaches with yogurt panna cotta and pistachio, or ice creams and sorbets with seasonal berries. Glass walls beg the ocean to join patrons in the straight-lined dining room, and historical photos of the Coral Casino serve as a reminder that this is no ordinary establishment. A small traditional cocktail menu is bested by a larger and well-rounded wine list.
