The Los Angeles-based gourmet burger juggernaut’s second OC location, situated a few blocks north of downtown Laguna Beach, is brightly decorated with a colorful beach motif that creates a vibe much more Eastern seaboard than Pacific Coast. All of the chain’s crowd-pleasing favorites are offered, anchored by the signature eponymous burger featuring tomato relish and a delicately thin Parmesan crisp. The list of burgers also shows versatility, as in one version with roasted Hatch green chilies and house-made American cheese, and another topped with homemade truffle cheese and a truffle glaze. People looking for a non-red meat dish have several options, from the truffled beet salad with ricotta, smoked almonds and baby arugula to the lemon miso crab melt with burrata cheese --- an item exclusive to the Laguna outpost. Desserts are pretty basic, but this is tempered by the inventory of unique sodas. A brief but sturdy list of local and domestic beer is available, too, along with a smattering of cocktails.
