Umami Café is an ideal spot to grab sandwiches and salads to-go---for a hike in the island’s rugged interior or for a picnic at the beach---or to enjoy at the eatery’s courtyard tables at the busy Metropole Market Place. The menu is delightfully eclectic and a short but carefully conceived selection of wines and beers from around the world makes it even more attractive. Among the culturally diverse favorites are falafel, Caribbean crab salad, sandwiches ranging from Texas barbecued brisket to Louisiana po’ boys, and, for the health-conscious, vegan potato salad.
