THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Uncle Yu's Szechuan Restaurant Review:
As with its Lafayette and Livermore locations, Uncle Yu's in San Ramon has three elements that distinguish it from many Chinese restaurants: attentive, cheerful service; attractive décor; and a wine list featuring selections from California and France. Although “Szechuan” is part of the moniker, the cooking derives from all over China, with occasional flights of fancy such as smoked salmon on cucumber noodle. Ignore the flaming pupu tray, and tuck into the crab puff appetizer or braised calamari. Entrées include seafood dishes like garlic scallops and prawns with lobster sauce, while the rack of lamb and breast of duck will satisfy the carnivore. Chocolate mousse is a good finale.
