It may be located literally in the shadows of the I-15 freeway, but Up N Smoke is easy to find for Inland Empire locals. Native Texan Rick Stapleton patiently smokes his meats over red oak before bathing them in a sultry and spicy sauce. We particularly enjoy a brisket that would be proudly served in Texas, stubby chicken hot links and pork ribs. Among side dishes, we find the mac ‘n’ cheese a bit bland but are delighted with the earthy barbecued beans and rich yams. When it's available, the sweet potato pie is a must---one of the best around. Most of the customers order take-out, but the small dining room is smart and modern. Also located at 883 E.
