Upstairs 2 Restaurant Review: Upstairs 2 offers innovative small plates from chef Todd Barrie (formerly of Venice’s Joe's restaurant), plus more than 40 wines by the glass. The global roster---available in a 2.5-ounce tastes, full pours or carafes---shows off the inventory of The Wine House downstairs, one of the Westside’s leading retailers. There are many intriguing whites to pair with a cucumber-Dungeness crab roll with avocado-apple coulis, a lobster BLT on brioche, or crispy skin black cod with a clementine reduction. Meanwhile, boneless beef short ribs with mole, and grilled rabbit sausages invite the pleasures of a full-bodied red. A decent cheese and charcuterie selection is available, too. On Wednesdays, there is a very attractively priced four-course tasting menu offered, accompanied by four preselected wines. In addition to the approachable menu, the dining room is smartly contemporary and the service is knowledgeable.
