Urban Table Restaurant Review: Urban Table is a small city restaurant with big city sensibilities. The place vibrates artful grit with its murals of subway tracks and luncheonette high style (if there is such a thing). The menu is a collection of just about everyone’s favorite dishes (as in the First Rate Cheeseburger made with seasoned ground beef and topped with melted Vermont cheddar, blue, American or Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato and a ubiquitous and tasty special house sauce) or much-loved ethnic specialties (the vegetarian taco is made with portobello mushrooms roasted with balsamic vinegar, and tossed with tomatoes, olives, alfalfa sprouts, feta cheese and sour cream). The mac ‘n’ cheese side is especially creamy, and the Urban’s Cubana roll, made with pork that was roasted overnight, ham, pickles and provolone and a thin smear of mustard, is especially memorable. Desserts are super-sized and robust coffee is served in great big warm mugs. The bar scene is lively and the wine list well chosen with lots of by-the-glass selections and half bottles.
