 Situated in the historic Margarita Inn, Va Pensiero is one of the tastiest trattorias in the Chicago area. There is a fine edge to the dishes served here. Many of the cuts of pasta are made in-house, and the kitchen understands certain varieties pair best with particular sauces for good reason. The entrée list shines thanks to dishes like Long Island duck breast with broccoli rabe and sautéed lentils, lamb scallopini with Gorgonzola polenta and salt-crusted wild bass. Desserts do not lag behind. Wonderful chocolate cake (budino) might be on the menu, but it’s the lemon zabaglione tart that shouldn’t be missed. |
