Valanni Restaurant Review: Valanni is known for its high-octane mixed drinks, seasonal sangrías and authentic Spanish paella. Executive chef John Strain has crafted a moderately-priced menu with a mix of appetizers, "Medi-Latin" tapas and larger entrées. Try the porcini-crusted day boat scallops with asparagus, crab meat and shiitake-white truffle jus. Fried Brussels sprouts, a vegetable dish made with apples and Marcona almonds, is a winner. A nice selection of vegetarian tapas is also featured. Half-price appetizers and drinks during happy hour are among the best deals in town.
