 Valanni is known for its high-octane mixed drinks, seasonal sangrías and authentic Spanish paella. Executive chef John Strain---he's been in the kitchen five years but now commands the ship---has introduced a number of additions on the moderately priced menu. Try the lump crab cakes with spicy mango purée, steamed baby clams with jalapeño and lime butter, and a beefsteak tomato napoleon. The fried Brussels sprouts, a vegetable dish made with apples and Marcona almonds, is a winner. A nice selection of vegetarian tapas is also featured. The half-price appetizers and drinks during happy hour are among the best deals in town.
