The Vanilla Bean Cafe Restaurant Review: This 19th-century barn turned charming country café is a family affair, owned and operated by the Jessuruns since 1989. Treats that come out of the oven piping hot every morning are the highlights, as are homemade soups and slow-cooked chili at lunchtime and nightly dinner specials like a smoked house-made black bean burger. In fact, the kitchen's repertoire is far more expansive than you might expect given the casual ethos, but the tabs remain inexpensive enough that you can easily bring the whole family. On weekends, the breakfast menu expands to include brunchy fare like a chili omelet with home fries, sour cream and avocado or vanilla/cinnamon french toast topped with real maple syrup from a local sugar shack.
