| The carved wood bar with Deco accents and killer martinis might be reason enough to visit this Chelsea neighborhood spot but the food adds another inviting dimension. Owner Steve Shaw offers regional American cuisine with a French and Asian interpretation. Appetizers such as tuna tartare with shallots, niçoise olives, Dijon vinaigrette and beet chips or seared sea scallops over corn fritters and asparagus coulis are sure to please. Main courses range from American specialties like a braised lamb chop with white beans and sautéed spinach to cod fish "mitonnee" on a toasted baguette with melted Swiss in a broth of white beans, tomato concassé and spinach. The brunch menu is equally innovative with dishes like lobster potpie with scrambled eggs and salad. |
