Vientiane Cafe Restaurant Review: Matriarch chef Daovy Phanthavong (along with her chef-daughter Manny, a Restaurant School grad) is behind this family-owned BYO Laotian restaurant. The fare has a bit in common with Thai food, with some Vietnamese influences. Try the green papaya salad, rice paper spring rolls, and the pork seasoned with lemon grass and kaffir lime leaves with a side of sticky rice. Nearly everything on the menu---soups, curries, entrées and noodle dishes---are offered with a choice of protein, tofu, chicken, beef or seafood, making this seemingly simple menu quite extensive. |
