THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Village Bakery Restaurant Review:
Originally conceived as a Swedish bakery, Village Bakery now borrows from broader European influences. Some of the county’s best breads, crisp-crusted with dense and chewy interiors, emerge from the bakery’s two outposts. Within their sizeable line-up: popular seeded sourdough (which includes flax seeds among the usual suspects); dark bricks of malty vollkornbrot that transport you to Germany; savory potato-onion ciabatta. Mid-week workers break here for sandwiches, quiche and soups, or wake up with not-too-sweet ginger scones, cardamom rolls and bear claws. If in need of special occasion cakes, ignore typical American bakery fluff in favor of Village Bakery’s intense chocolate framboise torte topped with chocolate ganache, petite lemon tarts, or triangular chocolate toscas accented by almond paste.
