 Vin de Set Restaurant Review: Vin de Set’s rooftop patio is one of the city’s best lunch spots, and its proximity to downtown and several corporate campuses means substantially lower afternoon productivity when the weather’s nice. In the evenings, reservations on the patio can be hard to come by, even with the addition of an all-weather enclosure housing part of the outdoor seating. Not that there’s anything wrong with the interior, with the brick walls and open beams typical in an urban rehab. It simply lacks the spectacular views of the Arch. The quirky name is a phonetic rendition of the street number 2017 in French; it makes more sense when you’re aware that its owners, Paul and Wendy Hamilton, are the same folks behind 1111 Mississippi just around the corner. Some of the food is far closer to American than French, like the BLT salad, but the frogs’ legs wear saffron aïoli, the tarte flambé is genuinely tasty, and the delicate crêpes are nearly a match for those in Brittany. Order carefully, and the food is a match for the glorious view. |
