THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Vindalho Restaurant Review: This airy, relaxed neighborhood restaurant turns out Indian cuisine that combines traditional spices with farm-fresh ingredients. Standard dishes---potato samosas, chicken tikka, pork vindalho, lamb curry---are a cut above. But why not branch out and try something unexpected, such as a chilled avocado and mint soup, wild boar spare ribs, or a zingy melon chaat salad? Vegetarians will find seasonal vegetables stir-fried with mustard seeds and coconut. There are several chutneys from which to choose---better yet, ask the server to recommend a selection of three. Among creative desserts, we suggest the masala chai crème brûlée or orange blossom honey cheesecake. The wine list provides helpful suggestions for pairings with this highly-spiced cuisine, or go for an Indian or local beer, or exotic cocktail such as the Rangpur Rickey, made with Rangpur gin, lime and soda.
