| One of Reston’s best-kept secrets, Vinifera is located on the ground floor just off the lobby of The Westin Reston Heights. An upscale eatery with its subdued, men’s-club décor and patio views, it offers a tailored menu that consists of classic dishes based on local, fresh and sustainable goods. We like the tuna tartare with a boost from Thai chilies, but the seared sea scallops and the crab cake with a butternut squash mash and whipped mascarpone are also good options. Try the braised short ribs in stout with a side of roasted garlic polenta---a standout cold-weather entrée that may vanish seasonally. Other choices include a New York strip steak, handmade potato gnocchi, and seared rockfish with a wild mushroom ragù. If you drop by at lunchtime, the abbreviated menu may include a wild mushroom soup and entrée salads. At either meal, you may want to explore the extensive wine list, so be sure to talk to the sommelier. Happily, you’ll find the service discreet and courteous, and best of all, punctual. |
