THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Vintage Irving Restaurant Review

: This rustic restaurant just off the quant Irving Plaza in Gramercy Park serves up hearty and well-executed fare while offering a wide selection of wine and beer. Grab one of the high tables or snuggle up to one of the lower-slung tables in the back room. Though not everything on the menu works (Hudson Valley foie gras is marred by tart jelly, escargots is hidden in Valencia-style rice), there are a few reasons to return: grilled octopus has a heavily charred exterior, making the inside bold with flavor; properly cooked pan-seared scallops sit atop blocks of creamy potato salad. Other standout small plates include twin Maine mini crab cakes with mesclun and chipotle vinaigrette, and tuna tartare tacos with red chili-garlic aïoli and avocado salad. The menu also boasts a build-your-own cheese and meat platter with selections like duck prosciutto and Spanish goats’ milk blue cheese.

20 Wines for $20-Amazing!!
by JoeDNYC on Tue Apr 21, 2009 8:37 am
The Thrillest posted a list on Vintage Irving and it sounded awesome so I checked it out. I urge you to do the same! The atmosphere is upscale and classy with a wine selection that will blow your mind. The food is served tapa style and allows you to try so many different dishes (get the Duck Prosciutto). And if your into absinthe, this is yourplace

20 wines for $20? Really? This is amazing! They have an amazing wine list so I will be checking this one out for sure on 4/27/09.
Absinthe is AMAZING

Who knew absinthe could be so delicious?
The bartender created some really cool mixture that had a milky feel to it, but was a strong absinthe cocktail. I really enjoyed this experience at Vintage Irving. I can't wait to go back and eat dinner.
Lovely Spot

This place is fantastic. I can't say enough great things about it. I had the Cantamplano salad and some wine with friends. The manager came over because we were celebrating a birthday and gave us some extra wine on the house. They were very gracious- and I will return.
