THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES Vreny's Biergarten & German Grille Restaurant Review:
THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES TO KURT’S & VRENY’S. Vreny's Biergarten is named for Vreny Eisele, co-owner with her husband, Kurt, of Vreny's and the adjacent Kurt's. Their son, Alexander, does most of the cooking here. One of his specialties (appearing occasionally) is a fabulous black bean soup. Part of the former exterior wall was knocked out to create a visually more expansive setting, and add more space as well. The main dining area is indoors around the corner from the bar, while the other sits outside on a patio, providing a very biergarten feeling. Here's where to savor traditional sauerbraten; spätzle with ham, mushrooms and cream; excellent sausages; veal in cream sauce with rösti potatoes; and apple strudel for dessert. Schnitzels, smoked pork chops, good sauerkraut and Black Forest cake are other alternatives. Vreny is Swiss German, and in deference to her origins, there's a decent fondue, as well. So what if you have to run a couple more times around the block to work it off? This is comfort food at its finest.
