Washington Place Bistro & Inn Restaurant Review: Surrounded by Italian joints, Washington Place Bistro & Inn is a refreshing change of pace for Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood, serving up local favorite dishes with a twist. The lobby features an ultra hip bar and lounge for customers to sit and sip while modern décor and a monochromatic color palette usher the rest of the castle, previously home to The Baricelli Inn, into the new millennium. The menu by chef John Roskowski is meticulously executed but surprisingly approachable. Start with the oxtail pierogies, topped with an earthy mushroom ragù. Among entrées, you pretty much can’t go wrong with any of the choices. Our favorites include the "Mack" and cheese --- a gooey combination of Mackenzie and Baricelli cheeses, local chorizo and goat cheese strudel --- and the tender, fall-off-the-bone C.A.B. short ribs served with a rich butternut squash and parsnip purée. Desserts are mostly straightforward, and feature Jeni's gourmet ice creams out of Columbus. When it comes to wine, the price and the pour size of the by-the-glass options leave something to be desired; bottles offer a better deal and selection.
