The Water Club Restaurant Review: Named for the top river views afforded from just about every seat in the house, this restaurant offers a very different ambience from many local gourmet rooms. The food, however, is classically American. Start with an ocean platter of oysters, clams, lump crab and shrimp. Then proceed to a main course, which might feature marinated grilled hanger steak with basil whipped potatoes, poached carrots, caramelized onions and bordelaise sauce; a wickedly tender ten-ounce grilled filet mignon; or pan-seared cod with warmed pea shoots, cold pressed tomato and olive emulsion. The seafood menu offers an array of delicacies including caramelized sea scallops and yellowfin tuna with sautéed broccoli rabe, crispy eggplant and Provencal sauce. As a nice bonus for the cost conscious, the prix-fixe pre-theater menu is available all evening long. A sophisticated lounge area provides a fine place to enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine with live piano music.
