| Nearly every seat offers a serene view of the Intracoastal Waterway and Clearwater Bay in this in-house restaurant for the Marriott. Boats sail, dolphins leap (sometimes) and it's Florida at its chamber-of-commerce best. The lunch and dinner menus, while limited, are what visitors will want from their hotel restaurant, yet the nuances are more than perfunctory---even standards like Key lime pie are elegantly presented and worthy of the name. Perhaps the two most unique lunch options are the citrus chicken salad, its chicken seasoned with black pepper and sage and served over mixed greens tossed with a raspberry vinaigrette, orange and grapefruit, red onions and toasted cashews; or the lump crab cake sandwich on a whole-grain bun. Dinner allows for a bit more creativity. Appetizers run to escargots, shrimp or calamari as well as a velvety lobster bisque. Entrées emphasize steak---from filet mignon to New York strip. Sides include Yukon Gold garlic mashed potatoes. Another favorite is the heavy-cut lamb chops (two double-cut from the rack). |
