THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Waterfront Restaurant Restaurant Review: Although not technically on the waterfront---at least not the Gulf of Mexico waterfront---this restaurant is just a few yards from the surf. Its neon-lit interior adds a kind of pop look that belies the family approach in the kitchen. Seafood is the emphasis. The Surf Delight mixes lobster tail, broiled shrimp, mussels, potato salad, fruit and bread. Tender and meaty New Zealand mussels make a fine appetizer. Owner Tom Gionis used to be a butcher and once owned a supermarket two blocks down the street, so he knows his meat. As a result, the Waterfront also offers good porterhouses and New York strips. The entire street-side of the restaurant is glass, allowing diners to monitor passersby.
