Waterside Restaurant & Catering Restaurant Review: Waterside Restaurant & Catering may offer views of New York City across the Hudson River, but it’s much more than just picturesque. With a focus on New American cuisine, this stylish restaurant features appetizers such as charred octopus and calamari salad, flavorful and smoky, studded with peppers, onions and dill and dressed with a balanced combination of lemon juice and olive oil. Or try the seared sea scallops, sunny as a summer day served atop crisp sweet polenta cakes, in a bright yellow corn sauce gently seasoned with saffron. Entrées are equally appealing and presented with panache, as in roasted prawns --- shrimp so large they look like lobster--- towering over a collage of fava beans, sweet corn, baby bok choy and delicate bits of candied lemon. The aptly named “Big Chocolate Cake” tempts for dessert. Service can be a little slow, but all and all is polished and friendly.
