THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Waverly Grill Restaurant Review: This small but elegant hotel restaurant surprises and pleases with its good food and professional service. The kitchen chooses plates colored to show off each dish, but the food always takes priority. If you wish, appetizers can be served in the handsome bar's side room, complete with private pool table. A favorite starter is scallops wrapped in ultrathin ham and grilled, or try a grilled portobello mushroom with balsamic sauce. We found the Vidalia onion soup rich and flavorful and the Caesar salad excellent. Flaky sea bass lightly wrapped in an ultrathin potato slice comes set in a bed of grilled vegetables. The filet of prime beef is broiled to perfection. There are a half-dozen desserts available and a menu of ports and Cognacs. The wine list numbers 50, with 40 available by the glass. More vintages would be nice.
