The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards Restaurant Review: Set amidst sun-soaked, golden rolling hills overlooking the Wente vineyards, this is the epitome of a California restaurant: it has casually elegant surroundings, notable food and a great wine list. Start with an eggplant bruschetta, the house-cured salmon or Hog Island oysters with a Wente sparkling wine mignonette. Grilled beef is paired with a potato-chanterelle gratin, while pan-seared swordfish gets a green-olive and herb garnish. For dessert, the chocolate-bourbon pecan torte wins our hearts. The wine list carries the winery’s offerings along with other Chardonnays and Cabernets. Despite the formal appearance, there is a kids’ menu, high chairs and crayons available for little ones. |
