Set in a space that had previously been a children’s-orientated restaurant (featuring a table enclosed in a large bird cage in the window) is this gastropub with a long bar and some tables comprising the front room, and a slightly more elegant area in back. There are over 30 types of gin available and several beers on tap. Food-wise, the menu predictably offers quality pub grub: a good take on fish ‘n’ chips (the fries are sufficiently crispy), a noteworthy burger, spicy yellow coconut curry and, if it’s on the menu, chicken curry pie. Prefer seafood? Try the well-executed Scottish ocean trout. Among desserts, the coconut rice custard dazzles; alternatively, just consider ordering another gin drink.
