Willi's Seafood & Raw Bar Restaurant Review: Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar, uptown cousin to Willi’s Wine Bar in Santa Rosa, copycats the global small bites concept. Despite the name, though, only a handful of dishes qualify as fish in the raw, the “rolls” section refers to sandwiches not sushi, and half the menu items never learned to swim. But, no harm sticking to theme: limey hamachi ceviche with taro crisps will hit the spot on a hot eve on the street-side patio, as will barbecued salmon atop cool, creamy cucumbers and green beans. Venture into meats with bacon-wrapped pesto scallops and other boldly-herbed skewers like minted lamb and chimichurri steak. A baguette with juicy shredded pork and pickled onions packs a checkerboard carton. Willi’s encourages experimentation with partial pours of wines from a tight but savvy list. The vibe feels trendy and swank. |
