THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Wimauma Restaurant Review:
Wimauma’s cooking emphasizes Florida-grown vegetables, meats and fish, and the menu reflects many expected Southern items --- hush puppies and fried chicken that’s tasty and light. And where else would you find low country shrimp and grits? The restaurant’s name honors a small town (two stop lights) in a corner of this county, and thus echoes the establishment’s hometown touches. Entrées can be as familiar as pecan-crusted catfish with mushroom and onion gravy and two sides, or something seldom seen locally, like a braised rabbit enchilada suiza with cilantro rice and refried beans. To drink, there’s sweet iced tea, of course. Dessert extends the Southern theme --- consider the bacon-chocolate brownie with butter pecan ice cream.
