THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Wolfgang Puck Cafe Restaurant Review:

The most famous chef in America makes his mark in Denver in a big way with this splashy, middle-of-downtown restaurant/bar/sushi bar. You may have to wait for a table since reservations are only taken for parties of six or more; but there’s plenty to look at in the meantime. The decor is flamboyant in bright reds, blues, purples, yellows and greens with etched glass artisan vases and Puck library vintage political posters tossed together with typical flair by Barbara Lazaroff a.k.a. Mrs. Puck. We valiantly try not to fill up on the generous basket of very fresh breads that appear immediately---a variety that includes kalamata olive and potato dill sourdough breads, crispy flatbread and cracked pepper focaccia. Thursday through Saturday evenings when the bar scene and restaurant are lively with shoppers, the Oscar night pizza with dill cream sauce with Norwegian smoked salmon wins the prize. The East-West Sampler appetizer with vegetable spring rolls, calamari fritti, and chicken satay is our favorite appetizer. And we like having the option of entrée choices as diverse as weinerschnitzel, roasted pumpkin mezzaluna, or Z steak (a ribeye with herb butter) served with mashed pots and Viennese onions. The creme brulee trio with three varieties of the sinful dessert in small sizes is the last temptation, and one worth doing penance for in the gym.
