THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Woo Restaurant Review:

Born and raised in Hong Kong, chef-owner Ming See Woo expanded her background in authentic Chinese cooking while living in California, where she learned French-influenced Asian cuisines. She is known in Las Vegas for her late-great Mayflower Cuisinier. Son Peter is Woo’s executive chef, having honed his craft as executive chef at Nobu in the Hard Rock Hotel. The cozy bar just inside Woo’s entrance makes a good first impression. Among starters on the extensive menu are thinly sliced yellowtail sashimi topped with puréed garlic; Mongolian-seared Hudson Valley foie gras with orange jícama; and king crab cakes with panko, red and green bell peppers, mustard and wasabi aïoli. We like the lettuce wrap of black cod marinated in a miso mixture (saké and sugar) and the lobster salad with green papaya shreds and basil peanut dressing. Grilled Atlantic salmon with ginger caper sauce is a favorite, as are Chinese adobo chicken breasts sautéed with garlic and mushrooms. Popular dim sum choices include pan-fried shrimp dumplings and chicken pot stickers. Among entrée dinner winners are kalbi rib-eye with garlic soy sauce and macadamia-crusted grilled lamb chops with cilantro mint sauce. Save room for the white chocolate bread pudding with passion fruit caramel and strawberry salsa.
