Wright's Gourmet House Restaurant Review: Cakes, pies, cupcakes, oh my. This family business has been serving up sandwiches, salads and tempting desserts since 1963, and its location along busy South Dale Mabry makes it popular with the business lunch crowd. But despite the temptation to take its customers for granted, Wright's Gourmet pays attention to its menu, featuring lunch choices of seven gourmet salads (from Greek to Caesar to turkey-and-pecan) and nearly twice as many deli salads where the customer is given the choice of servings: cup or scoop. Sandwiches include the Bahama Baby (roast pork ham, thin slices of cucumber, bacon and Jarlsberg cheese with mustard on an onion roll) and, of course, the Cuban sandwich, served here with some local flair. Desserts are equally original, including the Alpine cake, a yellow cake with chocolate frosting and white chocolate shavings on top.
