Yai Restaurant Review: An authentic, decidedly no-frills Thai Town eatery, hidden in a nondescript mini-mall anchored by a 7-Eleven, Yai is a refreshing change from all of those suburban Thai restaurants with predictable, interchangeable menus. Here diners (mainly neighborhood locals) tuck into dishes such as a fiery beef salad, tendon soup, crispy slices of catfish in a sweet but pungent curry sauce, and pork with vegetables, heavily scented with garlic. Even familiar dishes such as pad thai seem to be infused with intense flavors---and often plenty of heat. |
