Yamato Oriental Cuisine Restaurant Review: Now that every brewpub has a sushi bar, it seems hard to believe that Japanese food hasn't long been a part of the Pensacola culinary rainbow. Yamato was the area's first---and is still its best---purveyor of both traditional Japanese cooking and Japanese-American hibachi-style dining. The Tatami room, which requires patrons to remove their shoes before being seated, offers traditional noodle dishes plus teriyaki-glazed fresh meats and seafood, dumplings and crispy fried chicken cutlets. The sushi bar can satisfy your every raw urge and the teppanyaki chefs---the folks who do the knife-wielding shows at the grill tables---are good humored and well practiced. A full bar, including a few Japanese-food-friendly drinks, makes this a fun place to hold an informal party. |
