THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Yankee Grill & Roaster Restaurant Review: When we're in the mood for comfort food, whatever the meal, one of the first places we think to go is this sprawling, homey waterside eatery; the fare may not be extraordinary or inventive, but it's always satisfying. The interior is decked out like an upscale diner, sporting wood accents, plenty of spacious booths and cheery-hued walls crowded with mostly maritime-themed art prints, and the wrap-around deck is compromised only by often over-breezy conditions. Friendly apron-clad servers command the room. A favorite dish is meatloaf and mashed potatoes, positively slathered in gravy, enough for at least two full meals. At lunch, we're partial to the Reuben sandwich with creamy potato salad on the side, but have to admit that fries are spectacular when made fresh and brought straight to the table piping hot. Even the iceberg lettuce side salad is crisp and satisfying, especially preceding a steaming bowl of clam chowder. The sizeable desserts tend to be fine yet unspectacular. At the center of the action lies the spacious bar (smoking allowed), where locals perch on stools, eyes glued to whatever game happens to be playing on the well-positioned TVs.
