Yard House Restaurant Review

: This is the original location of what has become a national chain. The huge, elliptical bar boasts possibly the world's largest selection of draft beers --- more than 250 taps --- which originally filled signature yard-long flasks. The burgers are overrated, and the seemingly endless menu features sushi along with bites that hit the gastropub circuit a couple years ago, like Brussels sprouts and truffle fries. Entrées include jerk chicken, potpie, mac ‘n’ cheese, pastas, crab-crusted swordfish and respectable steaks, plus pizzas, salads and sandwiches. Watch out, though, for the Asian-inspired specialties, which tend to cater to the American sweet tooth. But when the appropriate time for something sweet arrives, finish with a draft beer float. Note that on Friday or Saturday nights, the Yard House is a party scene requiring up to an hour wait for a seat --- even at the bar. Most patrons are happy to oblige, lest they miss out on the buzzing crowd, classic rock music and harbor-front ambience --- if, that is, they’re lucky enough to score a patio table.
