Yming Restaurant Review:

Christine Yau’s small, delightful Chinese restaurant has consistently served good food for many years. For a start, it’s a pretty venue in an old townhouse. The cooking is thoroughly authentic and specialises in dishes from the Northern provinces, with other regional items appearing on the menu. Favourites include scallops stuffed with chopped prawns; homemade dumplings; prawn rolls with almond flakes, followed by wok-grilled Mongolian lamb; whole crab with ginger and spring onions; squid in satay sauce; and Empress beef slow cooked with herbs and spices. Added to this is the pleasure of tasting the other house-made additions, like pickles. It’s a peaceful, reassuring place, far from the frenzy of most Chinatown eateries and there is a good wine list, too. Set lunch and pre-theater to 6pm 3 courses and tea or coffee £11, set meals £17-£23.90 per person.
