At first glance, we thought we'd entered a hip little boba drinks shop. With walls painted bright candy colors, halogen lights, an American pop music soundtrack and a blackboard menu of iced teas, smoothies, milk teas, whip snows and slushes in some three dozen flavors plus chewy black tapioca pearls, Yummy House surprised us with its comprehensive menu of almost 30 traditional Korean dishes, barbecue topping the list. After ordering short ribs and chicken leg at the counter, we took a comfortable seat. Soon, our main course arrived on a hot iron platter, sizzling, fragrant and authentically flavorful with garlic, chili and soy sauce, accompanied by bowls of white rice, a gutsy miso soup and five separate cold vegetable dishes including pungent kimchi (pickled cabbage with garlic and chili), potato chunks in bean paste and egg-battered zucchini slices. We washed it all down with a passion fruit boba slush that cooled the spicy heat and lasted long enough to become dessert as well.
