Yummy House Restaurant Review: The Tampa Bay area can breathe a sigh of relief. Finally, good Chinese, and cheap. It’s the real deal: Hong Kong ingenuity in the kitchen, big round tables for large parties, caramel-colored ducks hanging rakishly in a row awaiting Peking buns and all the fixings. Service can be brusque, but stay focused and persevere. Yummy House is true to its name, with dishes sent out of a frenetic kitchen to an equally chaotic dining room. Still, everyone gets what they ordered, be it salt and pepper tofu, seafood hot-and-sour soup, or any number of scallop and shrimp dishes. Worth the wait in line in the no-frills foyer or out on the strip mall sidewalk, the eatery offers dishes for the intrepid Chinese food enthusiast and the more timid Western palate as well. The array of Chinese greens alone is a revelation for most diners. There’s no booze, but corkage is free. |
