This is a family-run restaurant in an out-of-the-way corner of North Beach. The room, with the feeling of a charming French country restaurant, is calming, and the food can frequently be stunning. The menu changes monthly, depending on what’s in season. Starters might be a Caesar salad of romaine, anchovies, lemon, garlic and Parmesan; or a twice-baked goat-cheese soufflé with a salad of apples, celery and fennel. Specials might include roast rabbit, a Niman-Schell flat-iron steak with spicy onion rings, or the fresh fish of the day. The inexpensive wine list is appropriate for the food.
