Zazu Kitchen + Farm Restaurant Review: Pork is celebrated from "snout to tail" at this industrial chic restaurant located in The Barlow from spouse-chefs John Stewart and Duskie Estes, also owners of Black Pig Meat Co. and Zazu farm. Choose a spot inside or outside and begin with a Bourbon & Bacon cocktail, an order of chicharrones or Black Pig bacon caramel popcorn. The daily salumi special is handcrafted; consider, too, the bacon-wrapped dates. The savory bacon burger is complemented by pimento cheese; apple panzanella salad is artfully balanced with, yes, bacon, as well as goat cheese; the BLT is made with local artisan bread and garden fresh tomatoes. Among the desserts, try the devil's food baby cake; pie à la mode; or "better butters," peanut butter ice cream sandwiches dipped in chocolate fondue. Stewart and Estes have crafted a nice list of local wines, including their own label, Black Pig, as well as local beer and spirits whenever possible.
