Zeffirelli Restaurant Review: Zeffirelli has won fans not so much for its wide-ranging menu but for the house specialty, a lusty, meaty veal chop. The lunch menu is basically pastas and a few meatier dishes, which is fine for midday eating. In the evening, the big-gun dishes arrive. There is that veal chop, assorted veal cutlet and veal scaloppine dishes, and a grilled beef filet that is an Italian version of pepper steak with Cognac. Often one of the house specials is rack of lamb with garlic and rosemary and it’s just about as good as the veal chop. Pastas are house-made. To start, consider the fried squid, a delicate seafood temptation with cocktail sauce, or ask about the soup of the day. Most desserts are pastry-based and ultra rich; try the tartuffo al limoncello. |
