Zengo Restaurant Review: Mexican-born restaurateur Richard Sandoval added an Asian accent to his modern Mexican cuisine for this chic eatery helmed by executive chef Clint Wangsnes. Zengo is a hip, 200-seat, orchid-decorated, open-kitchen restaurant that's always buzzing with convivial revelers. During the week, locals drop in for a sampling of small plates and cocktails. We have enjoyed Kobe beef stone-cooked tableside, tequila-smoked salmon sushi rolls and pork dumplings with chile piquin sauce. There's a great selection of saké and an eclectic wine list but the drinks of choice are the martinis (accented with fresh fruit purées) and mojitos (try the refreshing rum, mint, cucumber number). Weekends, tables and private dining rooms are booked solid but if you can find a seat in the bento box-shaped lounge, sooner or later something will open up. It's worth the wait.
