| A popular breakfast and lunch café by day, by night Zest pulls out all the stops when it comes to home cooking. Stardust and tumbleweed could describe the setting, which includes a low-hung crystal chandelier in one of the small dining rooms. Meanwhile, bread comes to the table in commercial-size tin cans, sans labels. White linens set the mood, however, and paintings from local artists set the scene for what's to come: creative fare, to be selected from a limited menu. Indiana’s Capriole Farms goat cheese stars in a luscious tomato fondue appetizer, accompanied with chunks of warm baguette for dipping. The serving of braised short ribs is mammoth, as are the signature "At Night Baja" tacos, which could amply serve two. Each of the three white corn tortillas are heaped with lightly fried basa, chipotle slaw, house-made refried beans and avocado salad. If that’s not enough food, the cherry “pie” a la mode will send you home sated. |
