Zest! Exciting Food Creations Restaurant Review: A popular breakfast and lunch café by day, by night, Zest! pulls out all the stops. The crystal chandelier hangs low in one small dining room, tables are covered in white linen, the paintings are from local artists, and the bread is delivered in commercial-size tin cans, sans labels. An expanded dinner menu proposes creative fare that includes small plates and sandwiches. Indiana’s Capriole goat cheese stars in a tomato fondue appetizer. Although the signature Baja tacos topped with black beans and avocado salsa continue to be a favorite of regulars for lunch and dinner, shrimp and "grits" with greens has gathered quite a following with its Smoking Goose garlic sausage and creamy polenta seasoned with rosemary and Gorgonzola. While the wine selections are limited, there's a match for any mood. Desserts appeal to our inner child; we say go for the s'mores with marshmallows, strawberries, chocolate fondue and graham cracker crumbs, or the malva pudding, a South African confection, for a happy ending. |
